Paul: Congress supports bombing Iran

Former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul says members of Congress have voiced support for a pre-emptive nuclear strike on Iran.

"I hear members of Congress saying 'if we could only nuke them'," said the congressman Thursday.

"If we do (attack) it is going to be a disaster," he told the Alex Jones Show.

The 72-year-old veteran politician added that the atmosphere in Congress indicates that a military strike on Iran has already been condoned.

"It is still totally bewildering to me when I see men and women in the Congress that I know and like doing this just to get along. Most of them will say, 'I agree with you on all you say but the Iranians are bad people and they might attack us some day," Paul said.

Referring to House Congressional Resolution 362 that he calls the 'Virtual Iran War Resolution', Paul explained the president plans to impose 'an absolute blockade of the entire country of Iran, and punish any country or any business group around the world if they trade with Iran'.

Despite the recent UN nuclear watchdog report conceding that there is no link between the use of nuclear material and the 'alleged studies' of weaponization in Iran's nuclear facilities, Washington accuses Tehran of pursuing a military nuclear program.

Here's a report (in PDF) on New Zealand Hydropower. It's an "Alternative Energy Industry Brief."

Here is a quote from APWR's press release this morning...

"For an update on the wind business, we have made encouraging progress sourcing the necessary wind turbine components from China and abroad and are on-track to complete the first phase of our wind turbine production facility this month. This first phase includes a 180,000 square foot wind turbine assembly facility with the capacity to produce 420 of the 750kW wind turbines and 300 of the 2.5 MW wind turbines each year. We expect to begin producing wind turbines at this new facility in the third quarter of this year and look forward to becoming one of the major providers of wind turbines in China."

This is UNBELIEVABLE! I believe APWR is about to EXPLODE!

APWR just said in their conference call that they expect to announce major wind turbine purchase orders by the end of July! This is in addition to the letter of intent they already announced for 380 of their 2.5 MW wind turbines!

Greetings,

I bought APWR at $23.04 a share yesterday.  I typically do not like playing earnings on a trade, but APWR is likely going to report a large backlog of wind turbines / alternative energy orders in China on Friday.  The sector is hot, the earnings are improving, the margins are improving, and APWR is going to lead the sector with the huge growth in Chinese utility expansion.  The stock is tiny.

Shares Outstanding **: 13.00M

Float: 12.45M

** Its likely institutional funds are going to start accumulating this stock now as the NASDAQ Global Select rating has just been granted.

Jim Cramer’s “Mad Money” recap: Cramer says, "Wind power is the cheapest form of renewable energy out there." He reiterated past recommendations of both Trinity Industries (TRN) and Otter Tail (OTTR) as the best stocks to own. He said that Owens Corning (OC) has the best composite materials business for this high-stress application. Cramer identified Woodward Governor (WGOV), Thomas & Betts (TNB) and Kaydon (KDN) as the companies to own for turbines, bearings and the other components. Finally, Cramer said both MasTec (MTZ) and Thomas & Betts (TNB) are the best companies for the wind power infrastructure. Cramer placed all 7 of these companies into what he called the "Mad Money Wind-ex," his index of wind power stocks. He said with the American Wind Energy Association's annual conference beginning in Houston next week, there should be a lot of buzz surrounding all of these names.

Next, Cramer welcomed Timothy Wallace, chair/pres/CEO of Trinity Industries to discuss his company's wind power business in depth. Cramer last recommended Trinity on April 24, and since then, the stock has climbed for a 36.7% gain. Wallace said that he is also very excited about his company's wind power business. Trinity plans to open a new facility in Iowa in the next 6 months and should begin shipping products by Q1 of next year. Cramer reiterated his buy on Trinity, stating that the company's story just hasn't been told yet. Cramer welcomed advertising guru and fellow CNBC host Donny Deutsch to the show to discuss his "new tech, old tech" thesis. Deutsch dismissed the notion of new tech vs. old tech and said what these new, innovative companies are really selling is the concept of saving humanity. SUDDEN DEATH: (Bullish) ROSE and MO. (Bearish) NVDA. LIGHTNING ROUND: (Bullish) CHD and SOLF. (Bearish) HEV; ATVI and STO

CEO Interview: Michael Johnson: Herbalife (HLF)

Herbalife may be popular the world over, but controversy is perhaps making the stock a bit too hot. Recently, the COO resigned after inconsistencies were found on his resume, The Fraud Discovery Institute said the company should have warnings about lead content and Spain's Ministry of Health is concerned about the products because of alleged cases of hepatic toxicity. Michael Johnson says all of the concerns are overblown, and other brands besides Herbalife contain traces of lead. The issue of hepatic toxicity may be traced to allergies in individual customers. Johnson adds that Herbalife products have never been recalled, and his own family takes them. Cramer, however, is skeptical, and thinks that the controversies, even if exaggerated, might harm the stock.
